Winter Update from The Village Pharmacy: Jan 2022

  • ODB COVERAGE + COPAY ASSISTANCE FOR CABENUVA
COVID-19 FOURTH DOSE ELIGIBILITY & VACCINE CLINICS at THE VILLAGE PHARMACY
COMING SOON: THE VILLAGE PHARMACY MIDTOWN

Cabenuva Is Now Covered by ODB

Cabenuva is a long-acting HIV treatment regimen administered by injection, once a month. It contains 2 two HIV medications – cabotegravir and rilpivirine (Edurant).

Cabenuva is the first and only long-acting HIV maintenance regimen for people who are virologically stable and suppressed (less than 50 copies per milliliter). Cabenuva is a complete replacement for your current antiretroviral treatment. No additional HIV medications are required.

Coverage for Cabenuva

As of December 17th, 2021, Cabenuva is now covered by ODB, which means if you have Trillium coverage, are a senior (age 65+), or on another plan covered by ODB, Cabenuva is now covered.

Co-pay assistance is also now available! Cabenuva now has a co-pay assistance card to help with insurance deductibles, so most people switching to Cabenuva will have zero out-of-pocket costs.

The Village Pharmacy is an approved Cabenuva-injection site. If you have questions about starting Cabenuva, please call us. You can read more about Cabenuva here.

Fourth Dose/Booster Vaccine Eligibility for HIV Stage 3 + Vaccine Clinic at The Village Pharmacy for the COVID-19 Vaccine + 4th

Immunocompromised individuals in Ontario are now eligible to receive a fourth dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. The list includes people living with Stage 3 HIV, or advanced untreated HIV infection and those with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome. Fourth doses are administered approximately 3 months after you have received your third dose.

You can contact your doctor to confirm your eligibility, and you can use the Government of Ontario COVID-19 booking website to book your 4th dose appointment.

The Village Pharmacy is running COVID-19 clinics at its 535 Yonge Street location, every Tuesday and Friday, from 1pm to 6pm. Please call us at 416-960-2323 to book your appointment.

The Village Pharmacy Midtown Opening Soon!

We’re so pleased to let you know that a new location of The Village Pharmacy – our 3rd! – will be opening next month, at Yonge and Castlefield, just a few minutes walk north of Yonge and Eglinton.

The Village Pharmacy Midtown will continue to focus on HIV treatment and prevention medications, along with regular community pharmacy practice, just like our locations at 473 Church Street and 535 Yonge Street. The midtown location will be our second Cabenuva injection-site, conduct PrEP consultations, COVID-19 vaccination clinics, and much more.

Please stay tuned to our website at www.thevillagepharmacy.ca and follow us on social media, @thevillagepharm, for updates on the opening, coming soon.

As always, we’re here for you if you have any questions about HIV and your medications.

All the best,

Zahid
