3 Steps to PrEP

STEP 1: Make an appointment with your doctor to talk about going on PrEP and get tested.

Need a doctor? You can book an appointment with the PrEP Clinic at The Village Pharmacy.

Want PrEP fast? Get ‘express’ PrEP at HQToronto’s walk-in clinic, and ask them to fax your prescription to The Village Pharmacy. Locations & fax numbers here.

Need help paying for PrEP? Here's more information on PrEP Costs and Insurance.

How it works: During your appointment, your doctor will consult with you and ask you to get some blood tests to make sure you are a good candidate for PrEP. You may be asked detailed questions about your sex life and medical history. Don't worry! Answer honestly and fully so that your doctor has the info they need to make sure PrEP is right for you.

If you're not sure, check out this info page on PrEP.

The Canadian Medical Association has published guidelines on PrEP and how to prescribe it. All doctors including your regular family doctor, have access to the right info to prescribe PrEP and monitor your progress.

Read more about the guideline for doctors here (and share it with your doctor if necessary): Canadian Guideline on PrEP.

STEP 2: Send your PrEP prescription to The Village Pharmacy.

Ask your doctor / clinic to fax or email your prescription to your preferred location of The Village Pharmacy. This is the fastest way to get your prescription, ready for pickup within minutes.

We can answer any questions they may have. We'll also dispense any quantities they prescribe on the prescription, including 6-week supplies.

It’s important to have a pharmacy that has PrEP meds in stock, understands PrEP, and is a welcoming, safe space, so you can get answers without stigma or discrimination.
