The New Trillium Drug Plan Year Starts August 1st. Here’s what you need to renew / apply for 2024-2025
Updated July 8, 2024 for the 2024-2025 Trillium Year
What is the Trillium Drug Program?
The Trillium Drug Program is a Government of Ontario program to lower the cost of expensive prescription medications, including for HIV meds, PrEP, chronic conditions, and more. You only pay a small deductible, based on your income.
The new Trillium year starts on August 1st, 2024, and ends on July 31st, 2025.
Below, you will find info on how to renew your Trillium plan, and how to apply for Trillium coverage for the first time.
If you are renewing Trillium:
Your Trillium benefits are automatically renewed each year.
You will have received a letter at your home address, confirming your coverage and the amount of your deductible, payable in 4 installments from August 1, 2024, to July 31, 2025.
You may not be automatically renewed if:
A household member age 19+ did not file an income tax return for 2023
A household member turning 18 years of age before August 1, 2024 has not signed the Declaration and Consent form
Your household has not paid the yearly deductible for the previous two TDP program years
All household members are age 65+
If you are not automatically renewed, contact Trillium directly. Contact info below.
Trillium Drug Plan - Tax Filing Deadline
Trillium calculates the amount of your deductible based on your 2023 tax return submission, which was due on April 30, 2024, or June 15th if you are self-employed.
What if I haven’t received a letter from Trillium?
There are a few reasons you may not have received a letter confirming your coverage and your deductible:
You didn’t file your taxes by the April 30th deadline.
The letter was sent to an incorrect address (you may have moved, or the letter got lost in the mail).
There is something outstanding on your application - either a mistake or incomplete information.
So now what?
Call Trillium directly. You can reach them at 416-642-3038 or 1-800-575-5386 (toll-free). You may be required to update your contact information and provide your Trillium RA Number or Health Card number.

If your coverage is not yet confirmed, you may experience a delay in getting your medications. Talk to your pharmacist for guidance.
If you are new to the Trillium Drug Plan and want to apply for the first time:
If you’ve lost your drug plan benefits due to COVID-19, or need help paying for HIV, PrEP, Diabetes, and other medications, the Trillium Drug Plan can provide relief for high-cost prescription medications.
